1. Learning Log: (teacher will hand out new learning logs after collecting last week's)
  • Update with DLT, HW, etc.
2. Warm Up in Quadrant #1: Expectations for Puritan Texts
    • (students will complete on back of learning log)
  • Describe what you are looking forward to reading in Puritan texts (or at least expecting to read about) and describe what you are not looking forward to in reading Puritan texts.
    • (teacher can call on a few students to share aloud)

3. Were Puritans Selfish or Selfless?
    • (Teacher will hand out the documents and review the instructions with students. Students may work with their row partners to complete the assignment)
  • Read and annotate Document A and Document B
    1. Pre-read ( title, author, genre, publication information, number the paragraphs)
    2. Mark the text and summarize/paraphrase each paragraph in the margin
    3. Answer the questions that follow
    4. Use evidence from document A and B to address the prompt on the back.
